In the framework of a collaboration with the EU Satellite Centre (SatCen), Sandra Mezzadri worked on a analysis on how national and EU-level programmes are converging to create a federated European GEOINT system that integrates institutional, national, and commercial assets. It highlights initiatives such as the European Earth Observation Governmental Service (EOGS) and Member State dual-use constellations as key drivers of this transformation. By combining multi-orbit and multi-sensor satellite networks with secure ground infrastructure and advanced data analytics, these initiatives aim to deliver responsive, interoperable, and autonomous EO capabilities. Together, they form the foundation of a European GEOINT backbone supporting the EU’s defence, security, and resilience objectives.
