In the framework of her advisory activities for the Armament Industry European Research Group (ARES), Sandra Mezzadri coordinated the preparation of a paper addressing the organisation, governance, and operationalisation of geospatial intelligence at the European level. Despite rapidly growing investment in space-based ISR, capabilities remain fragmented across national, EU, NATO, and commercial layers, making governance, prioritisation, and assured access in crisis situations as decisive within an increasingly contested environment. By mapping the current landscape and outlining alternative strategic scenarios, the paper offers a structured framework for policymakers, institutions, and industry to strengthen operational effectiveness, resilience, and strategic autonomy.
